Brittany & Trent- Married!

I met Brittany and Trent last year (she and George worked together briefly) and they were so darn sweet, I knew that working with them and photographing their wedding would be easy. Sure enough, the entire bridal party was super cooperative, laid back, and up for anything- perfect, really. The wedding was held on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Marswood hall and although the sun was blasting down on us most of the day, I still managed to get some good shots. Here's the sneak peek:

The dress- man was it gorgeous! It was just so elegant yet so simple. Breathtaking, really.

She was trying to get the bag of seed open with her teeth, snapped the picture right in time.

It's been awhile since i've seen birdseed at a wedding. I loved it- it makes beautiful images.

I guess the kids got a little carried away with the seed. Good thing the bride and groom were such good sports about it!

Erin & Chip- Married!

Sooooo I'm playing catch up a little bit this week. I was at Erin and Chip's wedding last Saturday and I will say that it was an absolutely gorgeous, timeless, and classy wedding! It was held at the Payne-Corley House in Duluth and could not have been any more perfect for them. The coordinator, Lori, was an absolute pleasure to work with (not to mention she knew fluent ASL- to all my deaf peers- you MUST have her at your wedding, she's awesome!).

Anyway, on to the pictures...

The dress- isn't it gorgeous? (On another note, I want the armoire in the picture... I absolutely love anything shabby chic.)

There was a little bit of rain which I think really disappointed the bride and groom, BUT I have to say that it made this picture so much more interesting and memorable.

Florida 2009- Summer's horse adventure

Hello! I'm back! A part of me wishes I were still at the beach, but the other part of me was just dying to get back home to normal life. I'm just not one of those people who can be on vacation for too long. It's not normal and it makes me go a little crazy. Of course now that we are back home, I really do miss being on vacation. I was not allowed to bring my work with me for a week and a half (I did sneak online a few times on my cell, but even that irritated George) and while I was a little pouty about it, it was nice. I mean the most difficult decision I had to make was whether to go to the pool or the beach, what flavor margarita I wanted, and that's about it. That was oh-so-nice.

Anyway, we stopped in Tarpon Springs before we headed down to Indian Rocks Beach (where our condo was) to visit with our good friends, Paige and Brien. Paige and George practically grew up together and look amazingly like siblings. We had a really good time with them and I really hate that we do not live not closer to each other. They're amazing people and really mean a lot to us.

I'll post my vacation in parts since there are literally hundreds of pictures. For those of you who do not know, my daughter Summer has been fascinated by horses since she was one. Which isn't very long since she's only 2.5, but thats well over half her life, so... (rambling again, sorry). Well, Paige's half sister, Britt has her own horse that she keeps at a boarding facility (I don't know the technical terms, the horse stuff is new to me) not too far from where she lives. When I learned this, I was practically begging them to let me take Summer to see Aiden (the horse). So this begins our horse adventure. I simply wanted to expose Summer to a real horse since her idea of a horse is a one foot tall stuffed animal. Because the poor child is absolutely terrified, and I mean TERRIFIED of the smallest bugs- I did not have any idea how this was going to go.

So, we arrived to this beautiful place, I wouldn't mind living here if I were a horse. Heck I wouldn't mind living there now.

So Summer gets out of the car and is absolutely besides herself with JOY. I mean she cannot contain her excitement and is tripping over her words.

I'm fairly certain she would have run for the horse had I not stopped her.

Then Summer declares that this is a cow*. Gee, I wonder what gave her that idea?

*(I know, it seriously does look like a cow.)

Meet Aiden, the gigantonormus horse. Great. And I realize I have to say "here Summer, go right ahead and put your tiny, sweet, precious 2 year old fingers on his face, right next to his gigantic mouth that happens to be 10x bigger than your hand". Yeah, go right ahead and pet the horse, its absolutely fine! (I'm the paranoid type).

She didn't go for it. Not at all.

Now, as you can see, I have this uncanny ability to make really awkward faces when any animal gets that close to my face. I did the exact same thing last year when a ram decided to get a little too close for comfort. I cant find the picture on my hard drive, though... :( Anyway, its no surprise Summer's terrified of anything that moves. It's my fault, I've already accepted responsibility.

I never knew you could feed horses peppermint candy.

It didn't take long for her to pick up. I mean, really. Candy + Horses = Happy Summer.

I laughed my butt off when I saw this one.

Paige and Brien. They always manage to look so glamourous no matter what they're doing.

Well that concludes this part of our vacation. I hope this blog kept you as amused as it did me!

Garmon Kids

Meet 5 of my 7 nieces and nephews! I meet up with my sister in law, Julie and her 3 kids and 2 step children and spent nearly two hours taking pictures of them. We got a little lost in the woods and I did not get to do everything that I wanted to do, but still we had a good time and there are some pictures that I absolutely love. Here's a sneak peek, hope you like them!

I had this in mind and really hoped we would be able to do it. I was SO glad when I found the tall grass! I love, love, love these pictures.

Just before we got lost in the woods...

The girls kept picking honeysuckle and eating it. It was so youthful, innocent and cute. I just loved watching them, and of course, I took a few shots.

Shatae & Clarence: Married!

These last two weeks have been incredibly busy. Just ridiculously so. And to top it off, I will be going out of town for 9 days and I have SO much work left to do. I have been trying to get everything done so that when I get back, I am not completely behind, but that's not looking so promising.

On a happier note, I shot a wedding last friday at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I am pretty sure I could have stayed there all day taking pictures. The flowers were in bloom, the weather was great, it was overcast at times, and not too crowded. Oh and they just opened the brand new entrance and it was fantastic (see below).

As soon as the bride arrived, I got right to work. As you can tell, she was happy! She was just absolutely glowing and in the best mood! She had 7 bridesmaids, all of whom were so incredibly kind and I know she was relieved to have them there with her- they were just awesome!

The ceremony was held in the fragrance garden, I love the architecture detail and simplicity of it.

Married!!!

I am certain this is exactly what the designer of the green stone had in mind when he or she designed it. How could it not make a fantastic picture? He/she must have a place in their heart for us photographers.

Then it was off to dinner at Paschal's. I don't know about everyone else, but my macaroni and cheese was the best!

Then it was off to the wine loft for a cocktail reception. I wish I were invited to these parties. It would give me a chance to wear my new dress! *hint, hint*

So this is the tray of champagne that I nearly knocked over. Luckily, the waiter has really good reflexes and was able to prevent a disaster. Bad photographer. Good waiter. (this is why I do not get invited to these parties, maybe?)

Lacy and Anthony were so sweet and nice and really... they were just amazing. Must I mention how incredibly beautiful Lacy is and how... *take a look and fill in the blank with your own description* Anthony is! I had to really focus on being the professional that I am (hahaha, I make myself laugh) not to be dazzled by the muscles on the boy, although maybe I did embarrass him here and there (sorry Anthony!). However!!!- The best thing about these two is that it is SO clear just how much they love each other. Chemistry just oozes between the two of them. You have to admit, they are going to make some ridiculously good looking kids someday.

Well, on to the pictures. I hope you enjoy them. They were taken at a location I prefer to keep a secret for now, although some of you may recognize it immediately. I had never really considered shooting here, for so many reasons, but once I started looking, I saw the place in a different way. Which worked out really well for us!

Fairgrounds

I went out to the fair last night with my family. This was Summer's first time riding amusement park rides, and I was REALLY excited to go. We just had so much fun. Well, Summer and I did. George was in a bit of a funk. He said he was paranoid. Why, I am still not quite sure. Must have been all the swirly lights. Ha. Everything was great EXCEPT the mini roller coaster. That was the ride of death. Never again.

If you know Summer, you know that she LOVES horses, and I am pretty sure we rode the carousel about 10 times, which was fine with me. I was having too much fun playing with my new camera and testing it out without the use of my flash. I got some absolutely adorable pictures. We're going on vacation next month and I am just thrilled and cannot wait to take my new camera along. Good times!

Mary & Luke- MARRIED!

I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun I had this past Saturday! I enjoyed photographing this wedding SO much! Mary and Luke were just so awesome the whole day and willing to do anything I suggested, which resulted in absolutely amazing pictures! I am just thrilled with how these turned out. The wedding was absolutely "rocker-chic" and was such a perfect representation of these two. Weddings are always better with a twist, I think. There are SO many more I would love to post, but I have to get back to work on some older sessions, so enjoy these for now :)

Hampton Wedding

This is just a quick post with some of my favorites from the Hampton wedding ceremony. The wedding was just PERFECT! The location was extremely private, the day warm, the colors vibrant and the couple just in love. It was a beautiful day (in March, no less) and I cannot imagine the wedding turning out any better than it did! Even though the couple has seen these on facebook, I thought I would post some here for others to see. Enjoy!

I met up with Abby and Kyle at Camp Creek Elementary for their engagement session. A little unorthodox, maybe, but it fit them so perfectly! They met in kindergarten (or was it first grade?) and then they were 3'rd grade valentines. I find that little fact about them just so freakin' adorable and I cannot get over it. They even wore their school colors! Too cute. And romantic, really romantic. Even though our options were limited- we had fun, and I do think we got some good pictures! I have not been keeping up with the blog like I should, sorry everyone! I'm a wedding and a few sessions behind, but I will try and get caught up soon.

Today I met up with Laurie and Josh in downtown Athens for their engagement session. They will be getting married in August at the Botanical Gardens and I am excited to be working with them. I have an absolute newfound respect and admiration for photographers who photograph newborns. I have never made it a secret that my love lies in weddings.... but I know plenty of people that just love (and are extremely good at) newborn photography. I do not consider myself to be one of those people.... however, I did this session for the newest member of my family- my nephew Aaron. He is a sweetie and I love him, so that's good enough for me :)

Garner Family

I did this session for a very good friend of mine, Sarah and her mother and younger sister. I have known Sarah for as long as I can remember and I still remember babysitting Anna once! Sarah is just one of those people who I adore and who I always looked up to and wanted to be like. She and her sister are leaving in two days to go to India (Sarah's 3rd or 4th trip and Anna's first). I offered to do this session for them before they left and we all went to downtown Athens (again!) and had an absolute blast. Anna is such a little model and was definitely working the camera whereas Sarah needed a little coaxing.... but regardless, the pictures are just so fun!

This is my absolute favorite picture of Anna. It's such an "Anna" picture.

I love how the twinkle lights are showing in the back and the street is all aglow... Keep in mind it was COLD that day!

Meet Summer... my adorable, unpredictable , and irresistible two year old child. I havent taken pictures of her since.... hmmmm I really cant remember. Which is just awful. So I took her across the street from my house and decided to try out some new techniques on her. Of course, its not perfect because she hardly stayed still, hardly smiled, hardly looked at the camera. But that's what you get when you use a two year old as a model. However, under the circumstances, I think I got some cute pictures of her.

Jessica's Bridal Session

This was my first time working at the Georgia Club and I love the location! It is only 15 minutes from my house and I just could not get enough! The clubhouse is beautiful- but not only that, the cobblestone walkways, lush golf courses, and beautiful buildings make for the perfect setup for a wedding! Here is my FAVORITE from the session:

Missy just seemed much more relaxed and calmer when he was around, and he was a willing participant, so I figured, why not? Wilson Family

I met up with the Wilson's on Friday at the Founder's Memorial Garden in downtown Athens for their family session. I just LOVE this park. It is my newest addiction :) I have known Krystle since 3rd grade and our daughters are only weeks apart. Speaking of which, Krystle's little girl definitely had other things in mind than posing for pictures- every two year old does! Regardless, I had a good time and I think the pictures turned out well. I hope you enjoy them!

I tried to bribe her with a pretty pink rose... it worked for a few minutes, but she wouldnt look up at me. It was the lesser of two evils.

Let me first start by saying that I LOVE this family. I was introduced to Daniela earlier this year by another client of mine and we have been friends ever since. I did Daniela's wedding this past July and Lynda's senior portraits in August, I think. I just love taking their pictures for so many reasons. For one- they're all so BEAUTIFUL and they just glow! And they are the sweetest and kindest people you will ever meet!

For the time being, my website has been updated! I currenly only have galleries for weddings and engagement sessions, but soon I will have a gallery for family sessions.

On a different note, I did an engagement session the day before thanksgiving. I have come to like going to downtown Athens and walking through North Campus and over to the Founders Memorial Gardens. My brother and his wife are expecting their first baby in January. I am SO excited. I absolutely cannot wait to meet the new baby! They had a shower last weekend and I took a few photos. Website Issues and Changes

I am in the process of removing all the old material from my website and updating it with new material. I did not realize it till reccently but I have not added any new material to my website since May of this year. Most of the material was from '07 and early '08. Given that I have photographed 17 weddings this year, and have 4 more before the end of 2008, it is time my website gets a make-over.

I am currently having trouble with my FTP server, which is giving me quite the headache today. I will post again once my website has been completely updated.

Update!

I have not been keeping up with the blog like I want to... BUT I have finally found my groove after switching from PC to MAC. It took me a few days to get adjusted, but I think im all good now. The best part is that the mac has improved my turnaround time for processing DVD's for clients. You can almost expect to have your gallery posted online within 24 hours for small sessions and 2-3 days for weddings. Oh, and I should mention that I now offer clients an online gallery with ALL the images from their session. You can even order prints online. This is an incredible way to share pictures with friends and family! I am only offering online galleries to clients with session dates of October 1st 2008 or later. I do apologize for the inconvenience if your session was before 10-1-2008. Here are some random pictures from some of the MANY sessions I had in October... its a bit long, but enjoy!

My computer is giving out on me and I am going to buy a brand new iMAC this week. I have been unable to get any work done due to my PC freezing up on me EVERY time I try and get some work done. For those of you waiting for a sneak peek from your wedding, please bear with me as I transition from the PC to the iMAC. I did this session today for Taryn who was born only two weeks ago. Babies are so unpredictable and yet the result is so worth it. She decided to stay awake for her session no matter how hard we tried to get her to go to sleep! She just did not want to miss out on the fun! My favorite? #3!

Since I spend the majority of my time behind the camera, I rarely find any pictures of myself. At the last wedding, we had a moment to spare, so George and I posed for a few pictures for you guys. So welcome to the first edition of "Meet the Photographers"!

Favorite Wedding Moments: The details! Decorations, the CAKE, candids, and random funny/happy moments.

Least Favorite Wedding Moments: Family Formals. Its probaly the most stressful part of the wedding for everyone involved.

Favorite wedding to date: Its hard to pick a favorite but I really enjoyed Cassie and Luke's wedding in Bowman, Georgia. It was everything I had wanted my own wedding to be.

Funniest wedding Memory: Watching people dance. A certian someone I know got a little crazy and ripped his pants. It was hillarious.

Here is George Banik, my assistant, second shooter, husband, significant other, etc. He's such a geek when he poses for photos. I love him anyway.

I created this custom 5x10 storyboard for Nicole with her 3 favorite photos from her maternity session. It was mounted on 2mm styrene which makes it perfect for hanging on the wall or placed on a small shelf. To make it extra special- It had a metallic and linen finish- truly unique! Im exhausted! Three weddings in less than two weeks. SO much work to do, but of course I cant resist posting a few pictures from each session as soon as I download all the pictures to my computer. So tonight is no exception. We were at the Taylor Grady house in Athens, Georgia tonight for such an elegant wedding! It was very well organized and Jeanine did a wonderful job planning it all. It could not have gone any smoother, and the pictures are wonderful. Nicole was blissfully happy and the pictures really do show it! I love my job!

Congratulations Cassie and Luke!

WOW! This was one of the sweetest weddings I have had the privelege to attend! Cassie and Luke were wonderful to work with and the wedding was absolutely beautiful. The ceremony was held in a open field and the reception was under the night sky and you could really feel the love! I could go on and on, but the pictures really do tell the story.
